ADDISON LYNN MILES, went to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, November 21, 2013 while resting in the arms of her mother and father, and surrounded by loved ones. On March 5 2012, at the age of 4 months, Addison was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Type B (ALL). Our little warrior was a well known resident on 7 West at Kosair Children’s Hospital. It was there that she celebrated most of her holidays, including her 1st and 2nd birthdays. Her voice was small but her message was powerful and far reaching. She led armys without ever speaking a word, won marathons without being able to walk and forever changed the lives of anyone that came in contact with her. She was truly a blessed child. She inspired family, friends and entire communities of people who had never met her to reach out and help several charities and organizations. She received three bone marrow transplants during her fight that motivated family and friends to host multiple community wide bone marrow, organ donor and blood donation drives. Her battle encouraged over 100 men, women and children to shave their heads to support the St. Baldricks Foundation. Our sweet Addison touched the hearts of many each day in her courageous battle against Leukemia. She made a difference in this world. She left a legacy in her two short years that will live on in the memory of her parents, Daniel and Rachel Miles, her #1 and big sis, Abby; Grandparents, Harold Schlensker and Denise Renn (Tommy), and David and Linda Miles; Godparents, Jeff and Lindsay Mahoney; aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many great friends. A Mass to celebrate Addisons life will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church; 3705 Stone Lakes Drive. Visitation will be from noon – 8 p.m. Monday, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road, and from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday, prior to her Mass, at St. Michael. A prayer vigil will be held 5 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home. If you are able to attend the visitation on Monday, we encourage you to bring a printed, “favorite” picture of Addison so it can be added to our collage. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Children’s Hospital Foundation, In Honor of Addison Miles; Dept. 86140, P.O. Box 950183, Louisville, KY 40295 Addison received exceptional care and concern during her illness and we express our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff and doctors at Kosair Children’s Hospital for traveling her journey with us.
