AJK TODAY: By: A.H.Rao. Indian move criticized: JKLL President criticizes Indian government move of getting vacated and abandoned Delhi-based Head Quarter of the UNMOGIP: MIRPUR (AJK): July 24: Expressing strong reaction over the reported recent Indian government move of getting vacated and abandoned the Delhi-based office building of the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), President of the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation League Justice (Retd) Abdul Majeed Mallick has said that the presence of the United Nations observers at both sides of the LoC in the disputed Jammu & Kashmir State with their present offices in New Delhi and Islamabad was most warranted factor till the final settlement of the Kashmir issue. In an exclusive interview to this Correspondent here on Thursday, Justice Majeed Mallick, also the retired chief justice of AJK High Court, said that despite complaisance of Pakistan to revisit the UN Security Council on Kashmir, the fact remains that Jammu & Kashmir is a burning issue on the agenda of the United Nations. India, he recalled, invoked the UN Security council for immediate ceasefire and thereby it agreed to a plebiscite under the auspices of the UN Security Council. The Kashmiri leader underlined that the appointment of the UN Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan was promptly made on the initiative of India and complete agreement of then members of the Security Council, he added. The retired Chief Justice of AJK High Court observed that India’s recent initiative to shift Delhi-based UNMOGIP Headquarter is a calculated step to demise the importance of the settlement of Kashmir conflict. “In fact it was step of complete negation of India’s complaint made in 1948 vis-à-vis Kashmir in the UN Security Council”, he observed adding that in addition to freshi initiative by Pakistan in the Security Council , Pakistan could invoke international court of justice to step in to enforce holding of plebiscite in the internationally-acknowledged disputed Himalayan Jammu & Kashmir state. “In my view, alternatively, AJK government was equally competent and eligible to invoke international court of justice to seek complete demilitarization in the Jammu & Kashmir state and therefore holding of the plebiscite”, he opined.
