AKWA IBOM INTERNATIONAL STADIUM ARENA DE SAO PAULO (venue of the opening match for the Brazil 2014 World Cup) ARENA FONTE NOVA Salvador,STADIO OLIMPICO,or EMIRATES STADIUM London This weeks package unveils the AKWA IBOM INTERNATIONAL STADIUM , Gov Akpabios vision of taking Akwa Ibom state to the top- league in sports development is gradually becoming a reality. On the 27th Oct 2012 , the President of the federal republic of Nigeria , Goodluck Ebele Jonathan laid the foundation stone and since then ,work began in rocket speed . So far ,noble Nigerians and visitors to the construction site have described the design as first of its kind, beautiful and intimidating. In Governor Akpabios words, the vision behind the stadium multi-faceted facilities is to network the state into the global sports community, as well as job creation , attract funding , sponsorship, and channeling the energies of our youths toward productive existence. Obviously the AKwa Ibom State government , never does anything with a slapdash approach ,rather with careful and meticulous planning which is in consonance with the personal trait of the chief executive ,who Africans have described as a 21st century Leader. A drive to the construction site will convince you- For the records Akwa Ibom International stadium is a FIFA category four stadium, with a 30000 sitting capacity ,which sits on top of a massive 32 hectares of land . The main bowl terrace will consist kid 4 -tier terrace seating arrangement all covered ,there will be two parking lots ,added VIP access and public coffee shop,restaurant and banquet hall. The grand stand area will accomodate VIP lounges and there will be team changing rooms ,collective changing rooms, meeting rooms ,admin and technical services unit etc. with a power back up of (2)1000 kva generator for non events, which will run for 24- hours round the clock and 1500 (3) kva generator for events. Level II has a VIP reception area and viewing lounges ,catering services and concourses which include:kiosks for spectators food and beverages and stairs to the upper levels . The upper and lower parts of the stadium feature standard seating,the seats are manufactured by the same company that made the seats installed in the World Cup Brazil stadia. The pitch is 105 by 68 metres ,while the lighting being installed uses 300 pieces Osram Siteco 2000-Watt Metal-halide multi-vapor lamps,guaranteeing over 90% of colour fidelity. Experts are also busy laying the 8! Lane tartan tracks which comes in maroon red color giving a distinctive blend with the ambience to create an awesome aesthetics aura . The main bowl is coming alive with grass on the pitch growing well ,grounds men in charge of tendering the grass are on top of their beat, they informed the crew that in another 12 weeks the entire playing surface would have been covered with rich luxuriant green grass as well as the training pitch . On top of that,the engineering of the pitch is superb and has underground drainage which emptys to evacuate storm water and taken out via the drains around the pitch ,empties into the open drain and is further channeled underground into a creek about 3.5 km away during heavy rain fall . This simply means ,it can never get flooded and with this a game can go uninterrupted. Information Technology and communications: Tv surveillance cameras to monitor movement of spectators and their behavior . Plus Tv studios, post match interview positions,commentary positions and outside broadcast van area etc.The stadium will have wi-fi and 4G LTE in all its sectors.Using smartphones, the public will be able to access ,game stats and watch replays published on a page maintained by the stadium crew.A dedicated team will control centrally all the screens and scoreboards. Supporters will be monitored by a computer system connect with hundreds of security cameras. The construction of the stadium is already creating a buzz of developmental activities around its location employing over 2500 workers, as the construction of the 3 rd ring road and a cluster of other roads that will serve as major access into the stadium are well underway. The 4th flyover along Abak road in front of federal secretariat is already in place.The stadium is covered with a white shaped- out facade and on the exterior ,has Auxiliary facilities in the complex which includes: water and sewage treatment infrastructure, Power House, administrative offices ,Community Facilities etc along-side the land bowl for world classs functionality.It has a lot of left over space for periodic and future expansions ,the design trend will have a phase construction for indoor and outdoor games while the foundation has been prepared to carry an expansion of up to 60000 seating capacity , this sporran to the construction Is done to international best practices.
