The coordinator of the group, Prince Niran Adeyoju, said the former governor would formally declare his intention to run for the governorship again under the platform of thePDP, on Thursday, at the party secretariat, in Ibadan, and will be received at the Watershed Event Centre, Sawmill, Old Ife road, Ibadan. Adeyoju said Alao-Akala’s performance during his first stint as the governor of the state had distinguished him as a “Nigerian whose distinction as a former governor of the state readily presents him as a man we need to lead us out of the woods.” “Chief Akala sacrificed his time during his reign as governor for his people both in public and private services; he struggled for the emancipation of the people of Oyo State, he was number one “servant leader” not a “dealer,” he said. Earlier in the day while playing host to some journalists in his Amazing Grace Villa, Bodija, Ibadan, Chief Alao-Akala confirmed the development. He said “On Thursday at Watershed Event Centre, I will be declaring my intention to run for the Oyo State governorship election in 2015.” According to a press statement issued by Chairman of Publicity Sub- committee of the declaration, Mr Lukman Agboluaje, “the decision of Otunba Alao-Akala to contest is in response to popular demands and calls from party members, farmers, traders, students, civil society groups, artisans, civil servants and vast majority of the people of the state who are yearning for his return to government in 2015 due to his outstanding achievements.”
