ANNOUNCEMENT! Dear Emergency Management Colleagues… The FEMA Public Assistance Working Session 2014 is scheduled for April 22-24, 2014 at the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The combined event is an opportunity for FEMA/State/Territory/Tribal Public Assistance team members to meet face-to-face, participate in topical breakout working sessions, receive training and share common best practices with their emergency management colleagues throughout The United States. The PA Working Session 2014 is officially listed on the EMI Event Schedule as FEMA/State Public Assistance Workshop (E0372) Each State and US Territory is asked to select and send one representative to attend the PA Working Session (PAWS). EMI will once again be providing stipend funding for these participants to attend. We also ask that the invitation is shared with representatives of Tribal Nations. It is most appropriate for Tribal participants to be individuals who represent councils or multiple organizations. Although we would like to have as many Emergency Management organizations represented as possible, space is limited. We ask that the names of State/Territory/Tribal Representatives be provided to your FEMA Regional contacts no later than Tuesday, March 18. Please take the time to carefully review the information below and don’t hesitate to contact either Martin DiGregory or Stew Mones if you have questions. Questions regarding stipend reimbursement should be directed to Martin and those regarding logistics, registration or agenda should be directed to Stew. The Emergency Management Institute (EMI) will pay the stipend, limited to one participant per state and territory, to include the following costs: • Airfare or train fare. Purchased at least 21 days in advance of the course travel date with travel taking place on the correct travel dates. The fare must be non-refundable, economy coach class. You may purchase your ticket from any source (Travelocity, Expedia, etc.), as long as you adhere to the requirements above. Transportation to/from EMI from BWI Airport will be provided. • Driving to EMI (based on mileage and up to the cap of $450) • Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)line baggage costs up to a total of $60 • Accommodations for FEMA and State/Territory/Tribal participants will be provided on the EMI campus • Travel dates are Mon. 4/21 and Fri. 4/25. (4 nights lodging) -The stipend does not include rental cars, taxis, limo service, parking, meals and other incidentals. Students will deal directly with Admissions when on campus. We don’t need to provide them anything. -It should be noted that you will need to provide a complete itinerary when you submit your stipend request. This means your dates of travel, non-refundable, coach/economy, your name as the passenger and the price all must appear on the itinerary. Boarding Passes are not acceptable because they do not have all the information needed for reimbursement. Stipend reimbursement generally takes 6-8 weeks after completion of the course. We are looking forward to seeing everyone during Springtime at EMI.
