ANOTHER FACT ABOUT BUGS BOTTOM: Protected species have been recorded as present within the site. Protected species recorded as present on site include badgers and a good assemblage of bat species. It is highly likely that bats will be using this site for foraging and potentially roosting. Both bats and badgers are legally protected. Badgers are protected through the Badgers Act 1992, which primarily aims to avoid persecution. Bats are protected at the very highest level, through European legislation, transposed into UK law through The Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations as amended, also known as the Habitats Regulations. These Regulations protect both the individuals and their resting places.
