Reacting to a statement by some concerned citizens of the area last week, a prominent politician in Numana chiefdom of Sanga Local Government, Yusuf Adamu, said it is the prerogative of the governor to appoint individuals to work with him based on competence and not sentiment. Adamu who was in Daily Trust office in Abuja also denied being part of those who made the statement calling for appointments based on sentiment saying he would never support anything sentimental. He said those calling on the governor to appoint someone from Ninzo chiefdom as commissioner due to imbalance in political offices were economical with the truth as the same chiefdom had held various political offices in the past. “How can we dictate to the governor what he should do? I call on him to appoint people based on competence, because he knows those who can work with him and deliver,” he said.
