AQ top commander killed by suicide bombers in Syria Two suicide bombers assassinated Abu Khaled al-Suri, one of the top Al-Qaeda commanders in Syria. The blasts at the militant leaders compounds in the Syrian city of Aleppo also reportedly killed two others. The bombing is believed to have been organized by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), an Iraq-based off-shoot of Al-Qaeda, which has been fighting for control of Syria against an alliance of hardline Islamist and moderate rebel groups lately. ISIL is trying to carve an Islamist state from Iraq and northern Syria and is acting against the wishes of as Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahri
