ASSU, the story is still the same. In 1992, ASSU went on strike, they resumed based on promise, the FG didnt fulfill their part. In 1993 it went on strike, 1994 they did. A journey of 4yrs became 5yrs for us. Since this period a session has not pass without a strike. A professor was appointed as a Minister to oversee the affairs of this ministry yet no solution to the problem. People are condemning ASSU on the strike also blaming ASSU on decadence on our citadel of knowledge. The ownership of this institutions refused to heed to the voice of the ASSU because if the whole system should fail they have more than enough to establish one. OBJ and ATIKU did when they were PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT respectively. The FG is noted for not honouring their words. We spend on what we not profit the entire nation and waste our common wealth on what do not profit the entire nation rather some selfish individual. The Nass Assembly are on full time they still collect SITTING ALLOWANCE, when to inspect a sector within Abuja millions of Naira will be wasted on it, when it involves traveling out or visiting a country like Ghana our neighbour here a large some that runs into hundreds of millions will be involved like the case SEN.IYABO BELO OBASANJO. When it involves Europe, American though not disclose, I know our pulse is weeping. Lets look at the amount wasted on pilgrimage alone despite the fact that most of them are going for buying and selling. either to Isreal as our President just did or to holy mecca, I am less concern, let individual use their personal money to seek the face of their God, then religion will be meaningful. Nigerian politicians are so crafty to the extent that if you ask them to buy an egg with actual amount given them they will lick it. The money spent on education and research look big to them forgotten the results last forever. Awolowo did it for his people in South West, today the region can stand among the world and beat their CHESTS with pride. Lets avoid IGNORANCE.
