ATTENTION ONTARIANS Here’s a letter you can send to the leaders of the three political parties to express your anger over the proposed Hydro rate hikes and other issues that will add to your financial burden. If you agree with this, I strong encourage you to forward this letter and repose this status on your wall so that as many people as possible may have access to it. Feel free to edit it, if you have something to add. The emails for Wynne, Hudak and Horwath are at the bottom. ***************** I would just like to add my voice to those who vehemently oppose the proposed 40% Enbridge rate hike, steady hydro rate hikes increased taxes and Health fee increase. These are placing an unfair burden on Ontario taxpayers, who have been shouldering more than their share over the past decade. As leaders of your respected parties and elected government officials, I believe that your responsibility to the people should be greater than your responsibility to corporations, institutions and influence peddlers. The institutions and corporations that provide services to the people have no souls or no conscience. So the people look to you for these qualities, and frankly, I have found them sorely lacking. The political system (and I have worked in and around it for years) has become steadily more disinterested in the will and the needs of the people who pay the taxes that support it What this does is create a wall of hate and distrust between you and the people whose interests whose interests you were elected to represent. Just imagine how much support you could garner from the taxpayers of Ontario if you would make the commitment to put their interests ahead of those of the corporations that appear to be gaining more and more control over government. The quality of life in Ontario, which used to be one of the highest in the world, has been severely diminished by overcharging for essential services, over-taxing, mismanagement of services and government ineptitude. You are the people who can do something about this and make yourselves heroes in the process. Why you don’t seize this opportunity to actually make good things happen for the people of this province is beyond me. But maybe it’s a question you should be asking yourselves every day. You know in your hearts that the majority of people in Ontario are stretched to the limit financially. You know the job market is shrinking. You know that corporate interests have an ever increasing stranglehold on government. You know institutions like Hydro could easily make their rates affordable by simple act of better organization. You know all this stuff. And yet you don’t appear to be addressing it. You don’t rage against it like the people want you to. And as a result, people start believing that you are not in control of your own office. Isn’t it time to refocus and start putting your energy into helping the people who elected you? Isn’t that your first obligation? Think about it and don’t waste the opportunity to do whatever you can to keep the taxpayers of your province from getting hosed again.
