AUA and the University of California are getting closer than ever! On January 15th, a ceremony was held at the UCLA campus to celebrate the announcement of a new AUA-UCLA Summer Intensive Program in Armenian Studies, which will be offered for the first time in summer 2015 at AUA! The ceremony brought together representatives from AUA, UCLA, and UCI, which is also hoping to strengthen its relationship with AUA. Among those present were AUA President Armen Der Kiureghian, Professor Peter Cowe of UCLA, Mihran and Elizabeth Agbabian, Alen Amirkhanian of AUA’s Acopian Center for the Environment, Georges Van Den Abbeele of UCI, Richard Hovhannisian, and many more. The meeting generated a lot of excitement between the universities and was only just a taste of the future impact that this collaboration will have. The universities hope that this will lead to a rich and diverse interchange between the students and faculty of these institutions.
