About 50 middle school Social Studies and Language Arts educators arrived on Wednesday to take part in the 2014 Richard Bartol, Jr. Educators Conference, which is taking place through August 2nd. The expenses-paid conference aims to help educators from underserved schools connect students to the relevance of the Civil War and confront challenges facing them in engaging their classes with this important chapter in our country’s history. The conference also addresses the current curriculum needs of teachers including Common Core principles and active learning needs of students. The Bartol Conference is being presented by Gettysburg National Military Park, Gettysburg Foundation and Gettysburg College.
