Acts Introduction What I Know Acts is the sequel to the Gospel of Luke and picks up where Luke left off. Acts is the story of the early church and that example us important for the church today. Acts also makes many theological points about our faith. There are many stories and speeches in this book. The Holy Spirit played a big role in the church and the lives of the early believers. What I Learned From the Book Introductions Acts has more alternate readings than any other book. This is because there is an early version that is about 10% longer. No Major Bible translation uses that version as a source but the ESV footnotes alternate translations that may be of interest. Acts contains examples of things that happened repeatedly such as healings and sermons. Acts has a wide variety of literary genres including hero story, adventure story, travel story, conversion story and miracle story. Acts follows a basic pattern of leaders preach the Gospel in an area, many people believe, opposition comes and sometimes harasses the apostles then God delivers them from it / protects the church. What I Hope to Learn More about the relationships between the different people in Acts (Peter & Paul for example) How the early church handled challenges and how we can model that today. The Holy Spirits work in their lives.
