Advertisement for Position of Battalion Chief of Field Operations Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department, Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Battalion Chief. Salary range of a Battalion Chief is 53,055.00 – 64,255.50. The position includes employer paid full medical/dental/vision benefits, paid vacation and sick days, 10 yearly floating holidays, 401K retirement through the NCSFA Association, with matching employer contribution (3% max.). The position is an exempt position. Typical schedule is weekdays with occasional nights, weekends and on-call schedule. Final starting salary will depend on qualifications. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION In the realm of emergency services, the Battalion Chief and the personnel over which he/she has managerial control must be in a state of continual and constant readiness. Because any and all aspects of emergency services involve the saving of human lives and, to a lesser nature, property, it is fundamental to the position of Battalion Chief of Field Operations that all duties and responsibilities are deemed essential. Whether under direction of the Assistant Chief or acting of his/her own volition, the Battalion Chief performs responsible management, technical and administrative work in commanding and coordinating fire emergency operations, medical emergency operations, training of firefighters and EMS professionals, fire prevention, general facility/equipment maintenance, public education and other related programs and services. The Battalion Chief provides responsible and technical staff assistance, implements program goals and objectives and oversees and supervises assigned staff MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Seven (7) years of emergency services experience with a minimum of three (3) years of that experience in a supervisory role, or an Associate’s Degree in a public safety discipline with five (5) years of fire service experience with a minimum of two (2) years of the experience in a supervisory role; • Possession of a valid NC Class B driver’s license; • Possession of an EMT-P credential; • Certified NC Firefighter Level 2 • Certified NC Fire Officer Level 1 • Certified NC Fire Instructor Level 1 • Certified NC Emergency Vehicle Driver • NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 • NC Chief 101 course completion Resumes may be submitted by email to Assistant Chief Ronnie Hayes at ronnie.hayes@lelandfirerescue or mailed to: Leland Volunteer Fire Rescue Department, Inc.
