Firefighters have stopped the spread of the grassfires along the Hume Freeway from Beveridge to the Metropolitan Ring Road and fire activity has subsided. The grassfires are now under control. You are no longer under any threat. Fire crews and emergency vehicles are in the area. If you need to use roads drive with care, it may be smoky and hard to see. Significant roads in the area (including the Hume Freeway) are still closed - see VicRoads website below for up current details. Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads. The next update is expected by 17/01/14 10:00 PM or as the situation changes. Safety Information: If you have time, check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions.
