Advice Issued For: Kangaroo Ground, North Warrandyte Fire Origin: 2KM NORTH KANGAROO GROUND Incident Name: KANGAROO GROUND - KOOS RD Issued: 17/01/14 4:37 PM This is an updated Advice message being issued by Country Fire Authority for Kangaroo Ground, North Warrandyte. The fire at Kangaroo Ground has stayed within containment lines. Firefighters continue to monitor and patrol the containment lines. Todays fire danger rating is severe and in high risk bushfire areas the best option is not to be in the area. Residents travelling home after work are encouraged to reconsider returning to the area at this stage. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and should continue to monitor conditions as the situation may change at any time. The Eltham relief centre is now open at the Eltham Community Centre, 801 Main Road Eltham. Emergency services recommend that the public refrain from swimming in the Yarra River in the Warrandyte area due to the potential risk should conditions change. There is currently no threat to communities, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions. Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads. The next update is expected by 17/01/14 9:00 PM or as the situation changes. Safety Information: Review your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. If you have time check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions. If you are experiencing smoke exposure, seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024. Stay Informed: Via cfa.vic.gov.au.
