After my recent post on eternal forgiveness, this conversation - TopicsExpress

After my recent post on eternal forgiveness, this conversation ensued on one of the groups I posted it on. First commenter: Pls shed more light when you say He has forgiven all our sins past, present ( I agree to these) and future(I am unsure) My response: Friend, when Jesus died on the Cross over 2000 years ago, all our sins were in the future. You and I werent born then. Our sins relative to His death were all future sins. If we are not forgiven of all sins, then we are not forgiven of any sin! Second commenter 1: So, if I get u very well bro, ure saying I have d liberty 2 sin since Christ already 4gave me my FUTURE sins. Wat if d trumpet sounds @ d point of sinning, wat would my xcuse b b4 GOD?? dat JESUS already 4gave my sins BEFOREHAND and so I could always SIN. Hmmmmmm........ I pray God gives us d understanding of HIS word more. AMEN! My response: With all due respect, thats what the carnal flesh wants you to think. (By the way, I never said we have the liberty to sin in the original post o!) But the truth is Gods gift of forgiveness comes as a part of the full package—Jesus Christ. Not only were you forgiven of all your sins and had them all blotted out once and for all by the blood of Christ, but you also died to sin and became alive to God through Christ. Because of this awesome act of Jesus, sin will no longer have dominion over you! You will rule over sin, because youre now under grace and not under law. Under grace, you no longer bear fruit to death, you only bear fruit to God. Romans 7:4-5. This is a powerful Biblical truth that Satan wants us all to shy away from. But lets not let him win. Let us overcome—by faith! Your sins cannot keep you from going to Heaven. They have been forgiven, and God does not remember them anymore, nor does He impute them to your account, because He has laid to Jesus charge all the culpability for your trespasses and transgressions. It is all because of Jesus! If a person thinks oh, now that all my sins have been forgiven even before I commit them, then Im free to sin, I dare say such a person is still a slave of sin and has not yet become a slave of righteousness. Sin still has dominion over such a person and, as a result, he was only looking for an excuse to sin, not for a way out in the first place. Such a person needs to understand the gravity and severity of sin, because only a true and clear understanding of mans sin and unworthiness can bring about a true appreciation of Gods magnanimous and extravagant grace and mercy. However, a true believer will receive this powerful truth and say oh, my sins are all forgiven through my lovely Jesus? Its all You, Lord. I love You so much, and Ill give my all to You just as Youve first given Your all to me! And if such a person falls into sin, he declares I am forgiven through my Lord Jesus. Guilt, condemnation and weakness fall off as a result. In no time at all, such a person walks in constant victory over sin and guilt! Second commenter 2: You said And if such a person falls into sin, he declares I am forgiven through my Lord Jesus. Guilt, condemnation and weakness fall off as a result in ur last comment. It actually implies all of dese are done widout d person repenting off his/her sin he/she just fell in2 and dey wouldnt matter b4 GOD if Im 2 go by ur comment since Ive shrugged evrytin off as if nothing had happen all bcos Im under GRACE and nt LAW?? Where do we put d place of REPENTANCE?? d difference btw PETER and JUDAS ISCARIOT was REPENTANCE, d former repented and d latter never did perhaps he was also tinking dis way. trying 2 put wat has apened behind him all in d name of not feeling guilty as said by you. HEAVEN aint a joke, GOD and all d indweellers who inhabits HEAVEN are holy and consequently we nid 2 b HOLYLIKE if we must make HEAVEN. IT IS WELL!! My response: About my last statement, yes! God does not remember my sins, so why should I remember them? See bro, guilt does nothing in bringing man closer to God. In fact, guilt makes us draw away from God. And that is why grace came, bringing salvation and mercy and forgiveness, so that we can draw near with full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water (Hebrews 10:22). We think if a man feels guilty for his sins, it will make him sin less. But that is an erroneous mentality! Being conscious of sin will make a person sin more, but being conscious of forgiveness and mercy through Jesus blood will vanquish sin! Repentance means to change ones mind (Greek metanoia: meta—change, nous—mind). When a person stops believing God is punishing him for sins and starts believing Jesus has paid for all his sins, thats a change of mind and Gods Word calls that repentance. Let the Bible define repentance for you, bro. Repentance is not feeling sorry for sins, although it will lead to that through the realisation of a higher life. True repentance is changing ones way of thinking from self-consciousness to Jesus-consciousness! Although Judas followed Jesus, he was a devil (John 6:70-71, Acts 1:25). He could not repent because Satan cannot. Peter was a disciple, saved and kept by Jesus. Nowhere in the Bible does it say Peter repented after denying Jesus. In fact, it was Judas who repented (Matthew 27:3). And even God repented in the Bible (Exodus 32:9-14). Does that mean God sinned? No! It means God changed His mind about an action based on the things Moses said. It was not repentance that kept Peter; it was the grace of God! And it was not unrepentance that damned Judas; it was his devilish nature! And how could you say Judas never felt guilty for his sin, when its clear in Scriptures that he was remorseful? Also, how could you say Judas didnt repent because of grace? Did Judas ever receive grace? Judas never thought about the blood cleansing him. Peter was saved, and Judas wasnt. Peter was part of the ones the Father gave Jesus, but Judas was not. And of all the Father gave Christ He lost NONE! (John 17:12). Dont mix them up bro, Peter and Judas are not comparable. They are contrasts, in fact! And yes, Heaven is not a joke. It is very hard to enter. In fact, it is impossible for any may to enter Heaven. That is why the only Man that can enter—Jesus Christ—entered on my behalf, as me. Therefore bro, I AM IN HEAVEN ALREADY! Luke 18:26-27, Ephesians 2:5-6, Philippians 3:20-21, 1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 9:24. I repeat, (1) Guilt will draw man away from God, not closer to God. Only grace brings us near. (2) Feeling guilty for sin is NOT the same as repentance. Many people in the world who are lost feel guilty for wrongdoing, but they have never repented. Please dont mix things up, my brother. (3) Everyone who is born of God, who is born of the Spirit by faith, is in Heaven already! God bless you bro!
