After reading, listening and discussing the events of the last few days I guess I will speak my piece, a small piece it is. Do I totally support this kid...yes. Do I have absolutely anything to do the with the situation....not at all...other then I have two kids who go to West Iron. My biggest problem with the whole situation is it is making our school look horrible. Could the whole situation been avoided, most definitely, could it of been fixed right there on the spot if handled properly yes. Were some staff wrong...I believe so. But it bothers me that this whole situation is hurting the integrity of our school. My kids have had issues at school, my son was being bullied for a long time...and after many visits to the school it was handled totally appropriately. Did it take some time, yes, the principal had her steps and procedures to follow, which even though it was hard to watch I understand...but in the end it was handled to the best of her ability and the staff was great in making sure my kid was taken care of and felt safe. Point being there is great staff at WIC and it is ashame that a couple bad choices by a few individuals has to make them all look bad. This whole situation involved two school employees who may have made some poor decisions in their reaction to the situation. I would hope that our school system will conduct them selves properly and deal with the situation and not just try to sweep it under the rug and try to make it go away. Just as in my sons case I am sure there are steps and procedures that need to be taken and hopefully they will. This whole thing has blown up into a totally mess and I hope our school can recover from it. We are proud Wykon supporters who have always tried to support our school and their decisions and I am hoping that when this is all said and done I can still feel the same way.
