#AfterThoughts #DoItForTheVINE #Evite Do It For The V.I.N.E.! Taught by Pastor Bryan E. Crute, Founder/Senior Pastor Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” John 15:5-8 (NIV) The fruit of faith in Jesus Christ is a changed life. “This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.” Colossians 1:6 (NLT) I can do it for the V.I.N.E, if I… 1. Validate my relationship with God by sharing my faith with others. “So they arrested him and led him to the high priest’s home. And Peter followed at a distance. The guards lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat around it, and Peter joined them there. A servant girl noticed him in the firelight and began staring at him. Finally she said, “This man was one of Jesus’ followers!” But Peter denied it. “Woman,” he said, “I don’t even know him!” After a while someone else looked at him and said, “You must be one of them!” “No, man, I’m not!” Peter retorted. About an hour later someone else insisted, “This must be one of them, because he is a Galilean, too.” But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly.” Luke 22:54-62 (NLT) 2. Indicate my devotion to God by offering my service to others. “When Jesus and his disciples had finished eating, he asked, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than the others do?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know I do!’ ‘Then feed my lambs,’ Jesus said. Jesus asked a second time, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know I love you!’ ‘Then take care of my sheep,’ Jesus told him. Jesus asked a third time, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter was hurt because Jesus had asked him three times if he loved him. So he told Jesus, ‘Lord, you know everything. You know I love you.’ Jesus replied, ‘Feed my sheep.’” John 21:15-17 (CEV) 3. Nurture my desire for God by using my gifts for others. “When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers were gathered together in one place. Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. There were Jews living in Jerusalem, religious people who had come from every country in the world. When they heard this noise, a large crowd gathered. They were all excited, because all of them heard the believers talking in their own languages.” Acts 2:1-6 (GNT) 4. Expand the family of God by extending His love to others. “Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: ‘Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say…Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.’ With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.’ Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” Acts 2:14, 38-41 (NIV)
