Afternoon thunder showers and hail plus 8 hours without power made this past week “interesting”. The power has gone out 3 times in the past month and thankfully we have not had campers here during any of the outages. Orientation is officially over and during the course of this past week we would have 5 classes going on training folks in everything from how to drive a tractor to where the light switches are to close up Rivertown. It looks as if we have an outstanding crew and we look forward to the many camps in front of us. This next week we are looking forward to 3 groups being here and I’ll be speaking to one of them on the topic of friendship. This week I am also working on a new game that we plan to play down in the riverbottom that we are lovingly calling “Sandtrap”. I was able to find 34 sand wedges for sale on ebay for $50 and we are going to play a golf game where the green tamarisk trees you want to avoid and you have only one golf club … the sand wedge. Seven of the guys from the neighborhood got together and played a few holes during one of the power outages. It should be fun. Sam Brock Director
