Agitated #Muslim leaders to meet Maharashtra CM over seizing of sacrificial cattle By TwoCircles.net Staff Reporter, Mumbai: Agitated over the seizing of Qurbani Ox by the Mumbai police, Muslim leaders have decided to meet the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavhan on Monday. Muslim youth of Madanpura called a meeting with the political leaders of all the major parties in Maharashtra. Shamsher Khan Pathan, president of Avami vikas party, informed the gathering that he and Advocate Yasmeen Shaikh filed a petition in Bombay high court last year for a temporary slaughter houses. He said, “We informed the honorable Court that the Deonar slaughter house has become insufficient and inadequate therefore temporary slaughter houses must be permitted in the Muslim populated areas like in other districts of Maharashtra.” He complained that the case is not coming on the board for hearing and they will personally pursue it. On the other hand, Abu Asim Azmi, President of Samajwadi Party Maharashtra took the appointment of Chief Minister of Maharashtra with the victims. He said, “We will meet the Chief Minister on Monday at 9.00 am at Sahayadri Guest House and will urge him to permit for the temporary slaughter houses in Mumbai like the temporary talav were allowed for the visarjan of Ganesh.” He complained about the double standard of Maharashtra government. He said, “They spends 6 crores on Ganpati Pandal, lacs of rupees on Ambedkar Jayanti but collects funds from Muslims for Goats and bulls.” Municipal Corporator of Congress, Fayyaz Ahmed also complained that government must allow temporary slaughter houses and immediately stop the seizing of Qurbani animals. He appealed the Muslim youth to be peaceful and maintain the law and order situation. He said, “Chief Minister has called a meeting on Tuesday and he will put the issue before him.” He also said if these animals are not allowed in Mumbai City how come the cows are found near the temples. He asked “Why our police officers do not seize those cows.” Ayyub Ansari, leader of Samajwadi party complained how the Ganpati Pandals are allowed on the roads and streets. “Is that legal” he asked. Naseer Pathan, leader of NCP also criticized his government.
