Ajith finally to make an appearance: ~~ TIMES OF INDIA ~~ Thala Ajith who is known for not attending any film releated events and award functions, is finally expected to attend Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema organized by SIFCC in Chennai today. Besides the President Pranab Mukherjee, Chief Ministers of four southern states, J. Jayalalithaa, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Siddaramaiah and Oommen Chandy would participate in function. Celebrities including Rajanikanth, Kamal Hassan, Chiranjeevi, Mohan Lal, Mammotty, Ambarish, three star sons of Dr. Rajkumar will take active part in the event. Stars will perform for a song to be composed by either A R Rahman or Ilayaraja for the occasion. Legends of Indian film industry, Amithab Bachchan, Khans and others are expected to participate in the grand finale. Ajith last participated in the hunger protests by the South Indian Artistes Association demanding action against the Sri Lankan government for its alleged war crimes and to extend support to the Tamils living in the island nation. He made his last appearance in a function in 2010 organized by the film fraternity to convey their heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M Karunanidhi for granting land for housing proposal for film industry workers. He even made a frank appeal to the CM that film fraternity should not be arm twisted to attend such political and social events.
