Ajufo Pleased With Facilities At Arts, Craft Training Centre. THE Permanent Secretary, Delta State Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Nkem Ajufo, has expressed satisfaction over the state of the facilities at the State Training Centre for Arts and Craft atEmede, Isoko South Local Government Area.Ajufo made her observation known to journalists after a facility assessment tour which would metamorphose into the commencement of training of youths at the centre before the end of this year.Accompanie d by the senior hierarchy in the directorate, she expressed readiness to deploy staff from the headquarters to commence the training, even as she said the directorate would partner with the Arts Department of Delta State University, Abraka, for the training of the youths.The Permanent Secretary, who was former General Manager of the Delta State Tourism Board, was taken round the facility by Assistant Director of Arts, Mr. Dennis Uwawa,where she inspected all the classroom facilities, including the computer centre and the art materials.She said the state government was interested in the commencement of training at the centre, adding that the people in the area should mobilise youths in Emede community and Isoko land to come for the training as it would be an opportunity for youths to gain skills that would help contribute to their means of livelihood.Acco rding to her, the centre, apart from equipping those that would betrained with meaningful skills for earning a living, would also, assist in curbing youth restiveness as it would keep youths engaged in productive ventures.She told the community elders that the centre in Emede was an asset to them as such is not in any community in the state, hence elders in the community should assist government in securing the premises to avoid vandalisation of equipment in the centre.Presiden t General of the community, James Akomenobor, said the community had long waited for the commencement of training at the centre, saying that it was the government that they were waiting for as youths in the area were ready to be trained in the centre.The community leader, who spoke through the Secretary General, Reuben Odogboro, explained that the community would do all it couldto secure the facilities, adding that the Directorate should indicate its willingness to commence the training before the youths would bemobilised.
