Alex Albert, a seventh grader at Foothills Middle School, was named Future Technology Leader at the 2014 GWATA Innovator Awards Luncheon on March 19, 2014 at the Wenatchee Convention Center. Over 300 people attended the awards. Alex Albert was recognized for developing and managing a website-based science challenge for fellow middle school students. His own science invention, created for the science challenge, is a hat that detects sound to help sight impaired individual navigate the world more easily. “It’s an amazing award. I’m so humbled to win it,” Alex said of winning the award. “I had some really amazing competitors along with me.” “I just really want to create a good tomorrow for everyone,” said Alex after the ceremony, “and I think the first step is getting everyone knowledgeable and excited for science and math.”
