All these professional politicos are running around like scalded ear-wigs telling the people of Scotland how terrible it will be if they vote Yes. As if anyone North of the border is going to be daft enough not to see through that. But what gets me is they are not talking about the real down-side of a Yes vote - for England anyway. I am predicting - MASS IMMIGRATION NORTH OF THE TWEED! I lived in Scotland for nearly 7 years and all three of my children were born there. It always was a great country and Sue and I only left to come back South because it was long way from our roots, contacts and family here in England. Dont get me wrong, I love England as well. Its the most beautiful landscape in the world, or it is until they frack it. But the prospect of a country just up there a little way past Carlisle with... ,well where do I start - no Tories anywhere near government; a parliament elected at least partly proportionately and close enough to identify with the people it serves; a better sense of community, fairness and a real respect for equality of wealth, opportunity and the will of the people; a NOT privatised health service; an arts and culture scene wide respected by all and supported by public institutions; and, these days, an increasingly feasible supply of fresh vegetables (though not in the Western Isles)! Should I mention house prices and free university education? Did I hear you say wild camping, and eagles and Glasgow art stuff and Edinburgh Festival Fringe? So where do we apply for citizenship? Looks to me like the last left-leaning, public-sector supporting, community-minded person boarding a train at Euston or Kings Cross will be turning turn off the radical light. It just has to be very tempting to leave this now tory-pox ridden Sceptred Isle to the Daily Mail and UKIP and relocated ourselves with those of like mind.
