Alright lads I got a problem, when Im driving theres a knocking noise coming from the rear of the car (dad hung out the back door and thinks he suspects it) the knock gets faster the fast I go, I can feel it in the brake pedal when Im holding it down and it shudders as it happens similar to when the discs are warped. me and a friend took the left rear drum off and cleaned it out and it died off a little bit ended up knocking 3-4 times and then stopping for 5 seconds or so and then going again. took it to a mechanic and he tried to work it out and he found the oil in the rear diff was like sludge and found metal shavings after he drained it so he reckons hes found the problem and its almost killed the knocking, drove it and it had died off the tiniest bit but nothing as good as when we pulled the drum off before, Im not convinced its the diff at all but I dont know for sure, Ive just got ideas really. Could it be the bearings in the rear diff? or something warped or worn in the drum brakes? WHAT COULD IT BE?! Any help would be much appreciated Thanks
