Am I a Christian? No. Do I deny Christ? No. Do I believe that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh? Yes! Then what am I? Clay. Why do I not call myself a Christian anymore? This is not a “yes” or “no” question and cannot be answered as such. This is my answer – and please remember, it is MY answer … you’ll have to form your OWN opinions and your OWN answers on your OWN. Using any other answer for your beliefs is not only cheating, but to copy someone else’s answer … is lazy. I have some cans in my pantry and I have some jars. All are labeled. I’d rather be a jar than a can as these perspectives apply. I know peanut butter by simply looking at the jar. I can sometimes even tell whether it is crunchy or creamy if I look closely enough. Pickles, on the other hand are a little different. I have to read the label before I know whether they are sweet or dill. I picked up some cans at a discount once from which the labels had been removed. “Mystery Cans” was what I called them. You never knew what you had till you looked inside. Here’s my point; You really shouldn’t label yourself. By putting a label on yourself, you are implying contents that may or may not be there! By labeling myself a Christian almost forty years ago I drew attention to my label. I told the world that my contents were everything Christ is! BAD choice! They were first called “Christians” in a place called Antioch because they were doing the same things Christ did (by the way … it was implied as an insult). Unregenerate minds were forming accusations against them for their love and their deeds. If I label myself something … I should do so as a jar! What Christianity has become is something I do not want to be associated with.
