Amazing new discovery! (And what great timing with #Interstellar) We now have very good reason to believe that a hand full of the ultra high energy neutrinos discovered by the IceCube experiment in Antarctica came from the center of our galaxy which is also home to the supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*. Although the angular resolution in IceCube was not quite good enough to prove the source was the galactic center, the arriving time of the neutrinos is correlated within a few hours of huge burst of x-rays (like I discussed just yesterday) detected by the Chandra x-ray observatory satellite. What kind of event could cause such energetic neutrinos? I have no idea!
