American Public School History text Book 1926 Public Domain...page 7 Should Europe be Mohammedan or Christian? An Arab by the name of Mohammed was born about a century after Rome fell. He taught a religion which is called Mohammedanism. Its central creed is No God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet. Mohammed said he was superior to Christ. (Blasphemy) Mohammeds followers used the sword to make converts to their faith. The Mohammedans conquered Spain and marched into Frace and were defeated by a northern tribe known as the franks under Charles the Hammer. They met the Mohammedans near Toors in central France and defeated them in one of the decisive battles of the world 732AD. This battle helped to decide whether the religion of western Europe and the future colonists of America would be Christian or Mohammedan. If Mohammedanism had won America could not have developed in her present way because of the homes on which American greatness depends could not have been founded under a religion which considers women far inferior to men. At the present time mohammedans do not agree that women even have souls. There is a proverb among them that when a girl is born they mourn and weep 40 days. When a Mohammedan is away he addresses letters to his son because he does not respect his spouse. Women in America under Christian religion played an important part in the making of America. Page 1 chapter America received the Old Testament by way of Europe through the Hebrews. Our government rests largely on the ideas of right and wrong laid down in the Ten Commandments. The first white settlers in America were christians. The Author of the christian Religion came from the Hebrew Race. His Birthday, Christmas is the greatest of all our Holidays.
