An Ode of Conscientious Consciousness Oh of the joy to know at the center of ones being The depth and value of truth and meaning that arises When you say aloud these words “I am not an irrelevant person” And know it as a matter of fact because You deem it as such even if no one else seemingly does And by the grace of everything you hold to be true Arise to surrender the state of mind once beseeched by evidence To conclude that you were once indeed regarded as irrelevant With or without the intention towards such an end result Oh the joy of reclaiming the power to govern one’s own influence To moderate the desire to both honor and be honored By the just fruition of evidence that this is indeed so Because you can arise and speak to what insults your soul Without in turn becoming the thing which insults your soul As an intentional affirmation that “You and I are not irrelevant people” Oh of the reward one feels within themselves A balanced humble pride earned from every toil filled moment Where endurance did not give way from the task at hand To learn that which must be learned to grow and blossom As a seedling doth do when laid in the dirt And revel in the feel of knowing that you arose By way of grace and of the belief’s you hold of the spiritual realms Be it God, Jesus, Buddha, Dharma, Mother Earth and alike The sweat is your own, from where ever your influence does come And reinforces that “Everyone is a relevant person” Oh of the joy to stand affirmed in understanding That a human being is afforded the right to defy All odds of what might seem as insurmountable circumstance And anchor their intention towards the maturation Of mind, body and soul that serves the greatest good Knowing this includes their own without falling as slave to a master Be it within themselves or towards another And proclaim in humble defiance “I am not an irrelevant person as I am” For the layers once buried in frozen torment, defy me no longer For some, the path to joy bears no dearth of inhumane murk But for the hallowed sight that dared to dream Of giving way in gentle submission to the perspective that must arise And speak aloud in vocal tones even if it must be crackling, “I am a relevant person” And while I desire your validation of such I need it not To know it as supreme one moment longer than The years I have spent chasing this inverted truth in earnest Without ever understanding that this is exactly What my soul has waited for me to find the courage to say In the very moments when I am being treated as irrelevant “I am a relevant person I am a conscientious and intentional person And I will not accept from you, to treat me in less than this way” Janine A Muller
