An extremely important vote is just finishing up in the Senate right now. A vote to advance a constitutional amendment on limiting campaign spending. it passed thank goodness. A reaction to Citizens United, where your First Amendment speech is only equal to your wealth, and your mouth only as wide open as your pocketbook. Check the rotten 18 senators who want to continue to experience rule by money. where the corporations and lobbyists maintain an unfair advantage over the citizenry. Ted Cruz was one.. Lets see, shut down the government and support campaign finance laws favoring Wall Street, corporations and the wealthy..... Im not sure I like that idea.... Especially when we cut services and obligations to the middle and lower economic classes so essential to the vitality of our country as a whole. With possible war on the horizon, perhaps balancing the budget should not be a major priority at this time. We cant afford to have our government shut down again, especially during these recent times of great international turmoil. Also how does one spell Ebola..? We also need a solid educational system that does not price out the majority of the population. An educated populace regardless of economic status is essential to our future. A terminally indebted generation of those who valued an education is a liability.. I dont believe in a free lunch, but I also believe that people if willing to put forth the effort, should be given a chance for a positive future. Also to support the belief that a strong citizenry and equal access to free speech is essential to any hope we may have for a truly representative democracy.
