An interesting, sobering, and (I believe) true analysis. I grew up on the fringes of this movement (my parents and grandparents were what we would call mainstream Christians, but several other relatives and friends were heavily involved in evangelical churches and apocalyptic theology), and the power it has in this country is frightening. For my friends in other countries, this is why you will see poor people in certain parts of the U.S. continuing to support movements that are actually directly harmful to them...its a matter of a twisted theology mixed up with politics that makes little sense unless youre a part of it. salon/2014/12/10/why_millions_of_christian_evangelicals_oppose_obamacare_and_civil_rights_partner/
