An open letter to Media Pseudo secularists written by I Support Namo Team member: Dear Rajdeep, Barkha & Sagarika On one hand, like any other India citizen, I can clearly see that country is heading down the wrong path under the congress government led by Sonia/Manmohan. The economy is in doldrums, the falling rupee & stock market, rising inflation, prices of vegetables, gas, Current Account Defecit etc is a clear sign of bad economy and you don’t need an economist to tell you that. Corruption has become our national sports and it appears even our neighbors realize the weakness of this government and are making inappropriate advances. On the other hand, we have a leader in the form of Mr Modi, who has a proven track record as Gujarat CM. The state of Gujarat in last 10-12 years has shown high growth, was corruption free and has the highest people satisfaction. He is undoubtedly most popular leader in India and the youth loves him. In spite of all that, I wonder why you people hate him whereas tacitly support the present government. Are you not concerned of the state of India or don’t want India to grow and be strong? No matter how much people say that your channels are funded by foreign money and you work against national interest, I simply don’t buy that argument. Then what could be the reason? You people claim to be liberal, secular and are concerned that with Modi, the secular fabric of this country could be destroyed. For argument sake, even if I believe you, I still don’t see any such risks. Firstly, BJP is not a family run party and people voice their opinion against their leaders, who are on wrong path. Moreover, Modi has run the state of Gujarat for last 10 years, without any incidence and both Muslims and Hindus benefited from the phenomenal growth under his leadership. Secondly, India has seen more ghastly riots in 1984 where a community was butchered by the party in power right under the nose of central government. Also, hope we have not forgotten the only blot of fascism in the name of emergency on our democracy by Indira Gandhi. If you can admire and love a communal and fascist congress, why can’t you give a chance to Modi? Or is it not the belief of secularism but simply business? Are you people are just hiding behind the burqa of secularism to benefit your organization. Like any astute businessmen, you are just pretending to maximize company’s revenue by securing government advertisements. If that be the case, I think you not only are causing immense harm to your country but also to your new channel. By doing this, you are fast losing your viewers and the growth of Newshour by Arnab is a testament to that argument. The third and the final argument I could think of is that you are threatened by Modi. The very idea of a non-corrupt, no nonsense effective leader sends shiver down your spine. You are so wedded with this corrupt nexus of government & media; you are truly concerned about your future. If that be the case, I think you should be concerned as a life of sin ends in sorrow sooner or later. We have seen what happened to Vir Singhvi after Radia tapes, as he has almost disappeared. Arguably you may say that criticizing a national leader and highlight shortcomings is part and parcel of your job. I would have no issues and would have bought that argument had you been an equal critique of the other side, especially the highest echelon in the congress party. Deep down you know, you haven’t done that. As an ordinary citizen I have no right to teach journalistic ethics to you people, but as your customer and India citizen, I believe to have the right to put across my thought and criticize your type of journalism. Hope you will take my letter positively and will try to be fair to the people of India in future. Sincerely Virender Goel
