Anambra 2014: I Won’t Impose Any Candidate –Gov Peter Obi The Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has said he has no plan to impose or support any candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state. Obi’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Mike Udah, told SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday that the governor had insisted on letting the people choose his successor. He said, “Governor Peter Obi has not tipped anybody for the forthcoming governorship election. He is not supporting any particular aspirant, and has no plan to do so. “He wants a level playing field for everyone that wants to contest the governorship poll. He wants everybody to vie and anyone who emerges victorious in a fair and transparent manner should be the governor. He said he is not interested in who succeeds him. It is up to Anambra people to choose their next governor.” Udah added that Obi was confident that a credible candidate would emerge on the platform of his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, and would defeat candidates of the other contending parties, without his support. In addition, a leader of APGA, Maxi Okwu, who was elected national chairman at the party’s last convention, said the party was doing everything possible to ensure its primary leading to the governorship election was fair and transparent.
