And all the believers used to meet together in Solomons Colonnade. - TopicsExpress

And all the believers used to meet together in Solomons Colonnade. Acts:12 I like houses with porches. Rocking chairs, beautiful flowers, even a matt to wipe your feet that says Welcome. Whether you are a family member, friend or even stranger, the porch is open to everyone. In the book of Acts we see amazing things happen on the eastern porch of the temple, located on the inner side of the wall enclosing the outer court. Solomons Colonnade was a porch lined with 27 foot columns and had a roof made of cedar. It was in this colonnade that all people, whether Jew or Gentile, were welcome at the temple. In Acts 5 we learn that this was where all the believers used to meet. I find that fascinating. All the believers would meet on Gods porch. Keep in mind that the presence of God, shekinah, once dwelt within the walls of the Holy of Holies in the first temple. Now, because of the gift of the Holy Spirit, after the death and resurrection of Christ, the very presence of God dwelt within the believers (Acts 1). The power that was once contained within the walls of the first temple was now dwelling outside the walls of the second temple and it was accessible to all men, Jews or Gentiles. What is even more amazing is that this presence of God that once only dwelt within the Holy of Holies now dwelt within the hearts of the believers and these believers now found their purpose in life through sharing that glory with all who would hear. Isnt it exciting to know that God has promised every believer that His Presence dwells within us. He placed it there for us to have strength and courage for each new day. He also placed it in us to take it outside the walls of the temple, to bring hope and healing to a desperate and hurting world. God wants to meet people on the front porch and He wants to use you to do it. Isnt that exciting!
