And then you find out that policies are in place to make things difficult for everyone! If youre giving the power of life and death to a judge it takes voters, appointments to courts and years of experience. Trials take weeks sometimes. However, if you give the power of life and death to a police officer aka ex military, academy recruit or criminal justice graduate, they get guns and can exercise this power immediately without deliberation, a calm setting, peer review, appeals, counsel presentations etc. We demand our judges be highly intelligent given their power to imprision or execute - why not even higher intelligence from those with immediate executory privilege? Maybe highly intelligent officers would be less apt to shoot at first opportunity and that would give up the game.
