Angry PDP members burn down Jonathan’s campaign office 05 Jan 2015 Report from Kanke town in Kanke local government area of Plateau state has revealed that suspected aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area have burnt down the party secretariat and setting ablaze posters of President Goodluck Jonathan and Senator GNS Pwajok. The secretariat is said to be the headquarters of President Jonathan’ and Senator Pwajok campaign headquarters. Peoples Daily learnt from a resident in the area that the incident took place early in the morning of New Year day before the commencement of activities of the day, alleging that the cause of the incident was due to the fall out of some aggrieved PDP gubernatorial aspirants in the state following the emergence of Pwajok as the winner of the primaries. But another source alleged that it was because of a diversion of some Christmas and New Year gifts meant for the people of the local government area by government and party officials. According to the source, youths from the area alleged that the state PDP imposed GNS Pwajok who picked former commissioner of Lands and Survey, Arch. Yilji Gomwalk from Kanke as his running mate. Gomwalk in his reaction to the incident said that, “Kanke was a stronghold of PDP adding that “no amount of mischief and intimidation can deter the people to support the party and the people in Kanke are known for their peaceful conduct during electioneering campaign, so we must not be used by agents of darkness.”
