Animal Cruelty Exposed 170 dogs rescued from North Dakota puppy mill! On Friday, the Park Rapids Enterprise reported that 170 dogs were rescued from a puppy mill operation in Cass County, N.D. The dogs were seized on Wednesday from 51-year-old Darcy Darrell Smith, who was running a dog breeding business which got out of hand. ... Dogs on the property were living in filthy, feces-laden cages, which were stacked inside of trailers. Multiple dogs were crammed into individual cages and many of the dogs were found with severely matted fur. The dogs, described as Shih Tzus, Maltese and Yorkies, were all taken to the Casselton Veterinary Service. According to WDAY News, Smith provided puppies to an area retail pet store. A manager of the pet store noted that Smith had admitted that things had "snowballed" with the breeding operation. Many of the seized dogs are pregnant and officials believe that the number of seized dogs could swell to 200 or more after the puppies are delivered. Currently, none of the dogs are available for adoption. Prosecutors are trying to decide of Smith will face any criminal charges. Source: Examiner/ Penny Eims/ July 12 DO NOT BUY PETS!
