Anja Thauer (* 1945 in Lübeck, † 1973 in Wiesbaden) was a German cellist. At the age of 14 she was accepted into the master class of Ludwig Hoelscher, 15 she studied with André Navarra in Paris. 16-year-old she won an international music competition in Paris. Only two recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, and radio productions for Radio Bremen and with the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR evidence of their skills. Characteristic of their interpretations is their very emotional style of play. The interpretation of Antonín Dvořáks Cello Concerto, Op. 104 is still considered groundbreaking. In 1964 she was awarded the Prize of the City of Nuremberg. youtu.be/CPphKxVO2zA
