Another Country Posted on August 7, 2013 by billmcmurdo In my blog yesterday I gave my honest answer as to why I opposed Jim McColl’s attempted no dough takeover of Rangers. I said for me the politics mattered. Jim McColl is a separatist and I am a Unionist, like the majority of Rangers supporters. I don’t want to see the Unionist ethos at Ibrox diminish and I am not convinced that under McColl this wouldn’t happen. Lots of Rangers supporters have since contacted me to say they agree with my views on this. Others disgree and say that for them McColl’s politics are irrelevant. Many of these, it has to be said, cite McColl’s billionaire status as their reason, even though they are likely to spend more on burgers at Ibrox than McColl intends to invest in the club. I have had people tell me that Jim McColl is a businessman who won’t let his political views impinge on his dealings with Rangers.
