Another delicious LIVE performance from Zappa, this time with drummer Terry Bozzio on the kit. Remember Walking in L.A., the new wave rock song in the 80s from Missing Persons ? Thats Terry and wife Dale, both of whom spent time in the Zappa band. MP bassist Patrick OHearn and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo were also Zappa alumni. Terry has since worked with a Whos Who of musicians, like Jeff Beck, Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and many others. He often does drum projects and clinics with his massive drum set. This is yet another live album from Frank that displays his bands acumen and exhaustive rehearsal. They sound better than most bands do on a STUDIO recording. The language in the lyrics on this one is pretty racy. It has been a 30-year labor of love for me to turn people on to Zappa. The great things about Zappa are that 1) With a massive catalog of over 50 albums and MANY styles of music, there is literally something for everyone 2) The best musicians in the world wanted to and did play in Franks bands 3) While Frank is known for foul lyrics and music that is extremely non-radio-friendly, there are worlds of Zappa folks have never heard because they just figure its all comedy music 4) It ISNT all comedy music 5) Even the comedy music is so intricate musically that its a treat to hear. 6) Zappa was not just a guitarist or singer. He was probably the greatest COMPOSER of the 20th century. Ala Bach, Mozart. Europeans know this. 7) Since radio wouldnt play his music, Frank basically started his own record company and did it ALL ON HIS OWN.
