Any of my friends this side of the pond aviation enthusiasts? This is awesome. Two WW11 Avro Lancaster Bombers (1 Brit one Canadian) led by a Cold War era Avro Vulcan Bomber. The small aircraft is a Bae Hawk probably assigned to filming this occasion. The Canadian Lanc is based in Canada and and is operated by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. The British Lancaster is operated by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. These are the only two remaining airworthy Lancs in the world. The Canadian aircraft was flown from Canada to the UK so that they could participate in air displays during the summer. In Great Britain these aircraft represent many things to many people but probably most represented is their significant contribution to the Freedom that we enjoy today. The sound of the Lancasters four iconic Rolls Royce Merlin engines together with the sound of the Vulcans four Rolls Royce Olympus 101 jet engines that produce a unique and distinct howl, flying low over the Towns and Cities of Great Britain this year is destined to make many a dry eye tear up. Some from memories of having been witness to these aircraft when in active service and no doubt some from National Pride and the emotion of the occasion as this may be the last time that these sisters will fly together.
