Apply for 2015 Coaching (Expressions of Interest by Wed 3 December) Who can be a coach? If you have a passion to help develop young people’s abilities, teamwork and self-belief while helping them to enjoy sport, ANYONE can consider coaching at the NJFC. You don’t have to be a parent of a current player. You don’t have to have played football. You just need to want to work with kids and families in helping them to enjoy the experience of junior footy. How do you express interest? Tell us the position(s) and age group(s) you are interested in. Email [email protected] by Wednesday 3 December. What does the job involve? Prospective coaches should read our Guidelines for coaches (njfc.au/helping/guidelines-for-coaches.html) to understand the NJFC’s approach to junior sport. In particular, coaches need to be committed to the development of all players and must be able to ensure players are enjoying the game as well as performing at their highest possible level. We do not pay our coaches. Your reward is the respect and admiration of the players and parents of the NJFC. However, we will pay the full cost of any relevant training programs you undertake while at the club. This includes the AFL Level 1 training course, which is mandatory for NJFC team coaches and recommended for assistant coaches. We put a premium on developing coaches skills and will support coaches who want to develop further. Assistant coaches in particular do not need to have coached before or to have a deep background in playing football; you simply need to be interested and willing to learn. We also offer a supportive and welcoming environment, with a large and friendly group of committed parent volunteers. What happens after you express interest? An NJFC panel will interview prospective coaches and make recommendations to the NJFC committee, which makes the final appointments.
