Archdiocese of San Fernando ASSOCIATION OF THE ARCHDIOCESAN SCHOOLS OF PAMPANGA Popular Dance Competition 2013 Contest Rules and Guidelines (Pre- Elementary) 1. The group shall be composed of bona fide Pre- Elementary pupils of the school being represented. It can be a group of all male, all female or a combination of both. 2. Each school shall be represented by one dance group only: consisting of a minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of twelve (12) members is allowed in a performing group. For small schools, they are allowed to include Grade 1 to meet the number of participants. 3. Each group shall interpret/ act/ perform a dance with the different assigned theme. 4. All competing groups and coaches are requested to come one (1) hour before the contest proper for the rehearsal, drawing of lots and submission of properly cued tape/ cd’s. 5. The time allotted for the performance shall be a minimum of three (3) minutes and a maximum of five (5) minutes including the entrance and exit. The time shall officially start as soon as the music begins or when any of all the dancers perform a dance movement or a step. 6. If the music exceeded the allotted time, automatically the performing group is disqualified. 7. The use of slicing and remixed music is allowed provided it does not exceed the time allotment. 8. Costume must be relevant to the song they interpret. Props must be hand held. No raisers. No backdrops. No extra people holding or carrying of different props. 9. After evaluating the performance of all groups, each judge shall rank each group with “1” being given to the group with the highest score and so on. 10. The contest chairman assigned by the host school will then tally the ranks of each of the judges to determine the top three winners. 11. In case of a tie, the chairman together with the member of the board will deliberate on the merits of the performance of the concerned teams, taking into consideration their averages or composite scores and will then decide on who will be declared winner. 12. Any violation of the contest rules expect the time will automatically disqualify a group from winning any of the top three awards. They will be allowed to perform or to continue and finish performance but will no longer be given scores by the judges. 13. Each school shall be represented by one dance group only: consisting of a minimum of twenty five (25) and a maximum of forty (40) members is allowed in a performing group. It can be a group of all male, all female or a combination of both. Provision: For small schools, they are allowed to include Grade 4 to meet the number of participants. 2. The group shall be composed of bona fide Grade 5 and 6 pupils of the school being represented. 3. The entry must depict the assigned theme or concept. This year’s theme: Street Dance in honor of the Patron Saint of the Parish. 4. Dance steps and choreography must be progressive all throughout the parade routes to facilitate the continuity and orderly flow of the parade. 5. PE uniform which includes the Intrams, Foundation t-shirt, rubber shoes, jogging pants or shorts will be the official attire. Minimal accessories are allowed. 6. Props must be relevant to the theme and should be carried by the dancers. 7. All participating groups must have their own accompanying music while on the street. (mobile music). 8. All participants must join the parade within the parade route which will be the basis of street dancing rating. (There are three (3) stations) 9. After evaluating the performance of all groups, each judge shall rank each group, with “1” being given to the group with the highest score and so on. There must be three (3) winners, 3rd place, 2nd place and 1st place to determine the top three winners. 10. The contest chairman assigned by the host school will then tally the ranks of each of the judges to determine the top three winners. 11. In case of a tie, the chairman together with the members of the board will deliberate on the merits of the performance of the concerned teams, taking into consideration their averages or composite scores and will then decide on who will be declared the winner. 12. All schools must participate in the street dance. 15. The FREE INTERPRETATION will be presented during the Closing Ceremonies. The performance is limited to 5 minutes only.The same criteria will be used in judging the FREE INTERPRETATION. The first judging has no bearing with the judging of the FREE INTERPPRETATION. 16. The participating schools shall submit an official list of participants duly signed by the School Principal and School Director. 17. The Decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable. Archdiocese of San Fernando ASSOCIATION OF THE ARCHDIOCESAN SCHOOLS OF PAMPANGA Choral Fest 2013 Contest Rules and Guidelines (High School) 1. The competition is open to any group of high school students duly chosen by the participating schools as the official entry. Only one group shall represent the school. 2. The choir shall consist of a minimum of twenty (20) and a maximum of thirty (30) members. It can be an all boys, all girls or a combination. 3. Song Requirements: a. There will be an official contest piece. This will be the song: “Ministerium Tuum Imple”. Body movement/ gesture or choreography is not allowed. b. The choice piece must be a “Broadway Song”. c. It will be performed with body movement/ gesture or choreography. The participating group is allowed to perform it in the manner it deems appropriate i.e., with live accompaniment, the use of minus one- tape, compact disk (CD) or acapella. d. So as to avoid duplication of choice piece, the school choral moderator shall inform the AASP Secretariat. The priority is given to the first choral moderator who informs the AASP Central Office. 4. The cultural moderator shall provide an official copy of the contest piece (it must be noted and arranged). 5. The allotted performance time for each is ten (10) minutes, including the entrance and exit. 6. The members of the choir must perform in their respective uniforms. They should be presentable and neat in performing. The girls are allowed to a simple make- up and the use of ribbons, hairpins and hairbands to keep their hair in place. Similarly, the girls can wear the hair in ponytails, pigtails or tie them in a bun “pusod” using a hairnet or rubber band. For this year, they may use head dress related to the choice piece. 7. Judging will be based on the contest piece. 8. After evaluating the performance of all groups, each judge shall rank each groups, with “1” being given to the group with the highest score and so on. 9. The contest chairman assigned by the cultural moderator will then tally the rank of each judge to determine the top 3 winners. 10. In case of a tie, the chairman together with the members of the board of judges will deliberate on the merits of the performance of the concerned teams, taking into consideration their averages or composite scores and will then decide on who will be declared as the winner. 11. The group with the best performance and interpretation of the choice piece will be given a special award. 12. The Choral Groups will be judged according to the following criteria: a) Tone Quality (50%) • Tone Quality-15% • Diction-10% • Balance & Blending-15% • Intonation-10% b) Interpretation / Delivery (30%) • Timing & Phrasing-15% • Dynamics-15% c) Stage Presence (20%) • Stage Deportment & Bearing-10% • Over- all Audience Appeal-10% Total-100% 13. Any violation of the above rules will automatically disqualify a group from winning any top three awards. They will be allowed to perform or to continue and finish their performance but will no longer be given scores by the judges. 14. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable. 15. For this year, all participating schools should know and memorize the AASP Official Theme Song, entitled: “We Hold the Call.” The choral piece and minus one will be provided by the AASP Central Office. Eligibility • Each school shall be represented by one group consisting of high school students currently enrolled in the same school they are representing. 2. Team Composition • The group is composed of entirely boys, girls or a combination. There shall be a minimum of twenty-five (25) and a maximum of thirty (30) members. A maximum of five (5) spotters are not included in the member of performers. Spotters should wear the same outfit as that of the performers for easy identification and are not allowed to perform any part of the routine. 3. Cheer Dance Routine • The time allotment for the routine shall be a minimum of two (2) minutes and thirty (30) seconds and a maximum of three (3) minutes including entrance and exit. • The pyramids shall not exceed three levels. • The team may incorporate gymnastics, dance and jumps in their choreography. 4. Cheer Dance Music • All groups must use canned music only. • Splicing and remixing of songs is allowed. • When burning own music, use CD-R and not CD-RW. At least two (2) fresh copies of music must be prepared on the competition. • Each group must assign a representative to play and shall be responsible for running the music during the performance. • The assigned member may only press the PLAY button twice. 1st is when to start the music and 2nd is when to stop the music after the routine. 5. Routine Regulations • Introductions, spell outs, yells and organized entrances are considered part of the routine and shall be timed as part of the performance. 6. Routine Outfit • All teams shall wear their respective PE uniforms and/or Intramural shirts, (official PE jogging pants is the only pants allowed) • Only pompoms as props will be allowed for use. (Pompoms are optional) • To facilitate easier movements and execution, the sleeves shirts, jogging pants can be folded and/or tied with rubber bands or fabric ribbons only. • Permanent alternations of the PE uniforms and Intramural shirt shall not be allowed. • Jewelry of any kind including but not limited to ear, nose, tongue, belly button and facial rings, clear plastic jewelry, bracelets, necklaces, and pins are prohibited. Jewelry must be removed and may not be taped over. Rhinestones on uniform are not allowed. Face paint is allowed, but body jewelry like sticky rhinestones are prohibited. • Medical alert bracelets or necklaces may be worn, but should be removed from the neck/wrist area and be secured to the body under the uniform with tape. • Fingernails, including artificial nails, must be kept at an appropriate length (i.e. short, near the end of the fingers) to minimize risk for the participants. 7. The Criteria for judging shall be: Choreography (Originality, Degree of Difficulty, Variation and Style) 40% Execution (Timing, Coordination and Synchronization) 25% Performance (Projections, Stage Presence and Energy Level 25% Over-all Impact (Attire and Audience Appeal) 10% TOTAL 100% 8. Violations and Penalties • Violation of any of the contest rules and guidelines shall lead to automatic disqualification from winning any of the top three (3) awards. The team will be allowed to perform or to continue and finish their routine but will no longer be scored by the judges. 9. Ranking System • After evaluating the performance of all groups, each judge will rank each group, with “1” being given to the group with the highest score and so on. 10. Determining the Winners • The contest chairman assigned by the host school will then tally the ranks of each of the judges to determine the top three winners. 11. In case of a Tie • The chairman together with the members of the board of judges will deliberate on the merits of the performance of the concerned teams, taking into consideration their averages or composite scores and will then decide on who will be declared as the winner. 12. The CHEER DANCE COMPETITION shall be considered one of the events in the AASP Meet and therefore shall be included in the medal tally. A total of 10, 7 and 3 gold medals shall be awarded to the Champion, 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. 13. Roster List • The participating schools shall submit an official list of participants duly signed by the School Principal and School Director. 14. The judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.
