Are you a back seat driver. Brought to you from Mi Drive 5 - TopicsExpress

Are you a back seat driver. Brought to you from Mi Drive 5 signs that you’re a backseat driver Do you ever find yourself gripping on to the passenger door, suggesting your route is quicker or sticking your foot to the floor in the hope of finding a spare brake pedal? If so, it’s time to be honest with yourself – you might just be a backseat driver. We’ve got a simple 5 point checklist to help you diagnose the problem. #1. Being a passenger makes you twitchy You know the people – the ones who flinch at every corner and grab on to their seat when you’re approaching traffic lights. The kind of people you hate driving when you’re behind the wheel? Yeah, well if that’s you, you’re either hanging out with really bad drivers or you’re a backseat driver. #2. Red traffic lights are your enemy If there’s one thing worse than having to wait at a red light, it’s watching as you hurtle towards one with no control over where or when you’re going to stop. This is where the invisible brake pedal comes in, and you may even have to close your eyes. They do, of course, always stop in time, but it doesn’t make the experience any less terrifying. #3. You’re not allowed to ride shotgun Back seat driver is a misleading title – they can actually be much more annoying from the front passenger seat. If you’re not allowed to sit in the front of your friends’ cars, they might be trying to give you a hint. Take it and you might get to sit in the front every once in a while. #4. You sound like a sat nav Do you insist on giving directions even when the driver knows where they’re going? Do you suggest short cuts and generally complain about the direction you’re going in? If you answered yes to any of these things, you’re not only a back seat driver, but you’re the worst kind. You will also take no responsibility for giving wrong directions, and insist the driver didn’t have to follow your advice. #5. ‘My car, my rules’ means nothing to you If anyone has ever said ‘my car, my rules’ to you, it’s time to listen. We’re not saying you should put up with bad driving, but it may be time to give up and start getting the bus instead. If you’re constantly ignoring the ‘my car, my rules’ motto, being a passenger just isn’t for you.
