Areal Flood Advisory Statement as of 7:03 PM MST on March 08, 2014 The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a * Flood Advisory for... ice jam flooding in... east central Rosebud County in southeast Montana... Custer County in southeast Montana... northern Powder River County in southeast Montana... * until 800 PM MDT Sunday * at 653 PM MST... law enforcement and spotters reported low land flooding from ice jams on The Tongue river near Brandenburg and the Powder River north of Powderville. * Tongue river... an ice jam has developed at the Brandenburg bridge resulting in low land flooding near Brandenburg. Water is covering the Brandenburg Road in that area. As this ice and additional ice upstream works northward through Sunday... additional low land flooding can be expected along The Tongue river from near Ashland north to the confluence with the Yellowstone river. * Powder River... low land flooding has been reported just north of Powderville due to ice jams. Additional ice jams are located south of Broadus on the powder and little powder rivers. As this ice moves north expect additional low land flooding in Custer County near Mizpah and locate through the day Sunday. * Anyone living in low lying areas near The Tongue and powder rivers should be on the look out for rapidly increasing water levels due to ice jams through Sunday. Take action now to protect livestock and farm equipment by moving them to higher ground. * A Flood Warning remains in effect for The Tongue river and Yellowstone river near Miles City. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear.
