Arima murder pushes murder toll to 240 An early morning murder in Arima yesterday moved the murder toll to 240. According to police reports, manager of Players Club Bar at Green Street, Arima, Devon John, was entering his bar around 2.50 am when he heard three loud explosions coming from inside the businessplace. Not knowing what was happening, John hid. He emerged some time later only to discover the body of a man with bullet wounds in a sitting position between two slot machines. John contacted the police and the still unidentified man was taken to the Arima Health Facility, where after undergoing emergency surgery, was pronounced dead at 3.45 am. Police reports are that the man was of African descent, brown in complexion and slim built with a short haircut and short beard. He appeared to be in his mid-30’s. A source said John indicated that the dead man was a regular at the establishment, but he did not know his name or where he was from. The source added that police had retrieved several projectile and ammunition fragments from the scene of the shooting. Cpl Ramoutar of the Homicide Department is continuing investigations.
