It’s amazing how the Lord is moving in this nation. Every church seems to keep growing—not just in numbers, but also in their desire to press into the apostolic reformation. Apostles usher in reformation. The first twelve apostles presided over the reforming of worship—moving out of the Jewish system and into the New Testament one. Men like Luther and Calvin led the way in the Protestant Reformation. God is restoring apostles today, so it is no wonder that much of the way we do church is being reformed. Expect to see more foundational reforms that will result in deeper faith and a more intimate walk with God. A couple of nights ago, I taught on shifting into family worship and the importance of a day of rest—the ongoing reconnection to our Hebrew roots is an important part of the apostolic reformation. Every Sabbath, a Hebrew husband would lay hands on and bless his wife and children. It was awesome leading about 300 people in laying on of hands to bless their family and friends. On Sunday, the church was packed. Since we were setting in some leaders, I decided to teach on the four purposes of laying on of hands. They are as follows: • For healing and deliverance. “All those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. And demons also came out of many” (Luke 4:40–41). Every time we lay on hands, there is a release of God’s anointing and power. The devil does his best to hide this truth from us. I have heard several testimonies from people whom I laid hands on. I didn’t feel anything, but they came back and said they’d been healed. One said it was like “getting a massage.” Note that laying on of hands also causes demons to “come out.” A few days ago, I sent a young couple outside to lay hands on the door posts of the building where we were having a meeting. Almost immediately the meeting’s spiritual atmosphere changed! Why don’t you take a minute and lay hands on the door posts of your house and ask the King of Glory to enter. Watch the shift! • For blessing. Parents brought children to Jesus so that He would lay His hands on them and bless them (Matt. 19:13–15). Again, I encourage you to regularly lay hands on your family members and to bless them in Jesus’s name. • For impartation. “Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership” (1 Tim. 4:14). One of the surest ways of imparting spiritual gifts and anointings is through the laying on of hands. That is how Timothy received spiritual gifts from Paul. You can only impart what you have, but you probably have more than you think you do. You may have a zeal for God. As you lay on hands, it will be imparted. You may have deep love, or strong perseverance. The Lord will impart those things to others as you lay on hands. • For setting in or ordaining. The laying on of hands for ordaining into a leadership position is only done after much prayer (Acts 6:6; 13:3), for those of proven character (1 Tim. 3:10), and is not to be done hastily (1 Tim. 5:22). The more solid their character, the more they will be able to withstand the inevitable attacks of the enemy. We also must be faithful to pray for all set into leadership positions. Perhaps this lack of prayer covering is the reason why some inadvertently take a wrong turn—instead of being servant leaders, they fall into control and manipulation. I asked the congregation to commit to special prayer for the new leaders we set into office. Antidote for the Antichrist Spirit “Love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind” (Matt. 22:37). The antichrist spirit tries to get us thinking that every day, week, and month is exactly the same. Everything is ho-hum, and there isn’t anything to believe for or to expect for. This leads to increasing unbelief, tiredness, and even scoffing (see 2 Peter 3:3–4). How do we break that? Keep choosing to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind. Faith will explode, and the Holy Spirit will move in and for you. As we do this, we will find this Hebrew month of Av to be the high-point month (and not the low point).
