As Dave reminded us this morning, as James teaches, dont merely - TopicsExpress

As Dave reminded us this morning, as James teaches, dont merely listen to the Word of God, but do what it says (James 1:22). I personally felt very challenged about what Dave shared about the person who led us to Christ being really the most important person in our lives; this reminds us of the importance, centrality and vitality of Christ in all that we are and all we do forever, that that decision we made to follow Christ was the most pivotal, the most defining and significant moment of our lives. Think of that person who led you to Christ. But for them, where would you be today, what would your life look like? It caused me to think about the man who led me to the Lord 18 years ago. He is now a CofE minister in Wellington, NZ. I felt the urge to contact him, to thank him for telling me about Jesus, to encourage him and to ask him to pray for me and to give me advice about telling others - we all need some inspiration and encouragement sometimes! For many (me included) it is the one of the hardest things to tell people about Jesus, but it is the most vital - our one commission - and what I want to be doing. I was really challenged this morning! I want to encourage you to do likewise this week, to contact that person, or if that person is no longer alive or not walking with the Lord any longer, then maybe contact someone who inspires you as an evangelist - ask for their help, advice, encouragement. For some you may be getting a call or message from someone in the church this week! Be blessed and be generous in your encouragement. This may seem like a small thing, but I believe when we take even a small step like this, with a heartfelt desire to lead others to Christ, with an understanding that this is the greatest call on our lives, that it is what will matter most in Gods eternal economy, I believe God will honour it, use it and bless it - who knows where that little step might lead you this week? Lets make it all about this: the main thing being the main thing, the only thing, as Paul says in Acts 20:24, that will last forever, the task of testifying to the good news of Gods grace. God bless you this week!
