As I reflect on my life I realise that I have not had had enough fingers up my arse ! Thats got your attention. The first time was when I was 18 years old. I was in a touring play with Marius Goring and felt very unwell. My parents picked me up in Wolverhampton and I stayed with them in Leeds for a long weekend en route to Darlington. I became so bad that my father took me to my childhood doctor. However she was so fascinated that I was working with Marius that she kind of over looked my condition and probed me for questions about him, asking me for his autograph. If only she had carried out a rectal examination it was probable that she would have discovered that I had an appendicitis (my appendix were not in the usual place ). When in Darlington this became peritonitis which resulted in my now having a 14 inch scar and another one where an internal drainage tube used to be. All for the want of a fingering ! Neil Stukes post last week prompted me into booking an appointment this morning for the old finger. A friend of mine knew a very prominent and wealthy businessman who found the the idea of an insertion of a finger in his anus so humiliating that he forbade it during his annual private health check up in Harley Street. By the time he found he had prostate cancer it was far too late for any action to be taken despite all his money. If only he had overcome his embarrassment he might be alive today.
